Healthy and Culturally Appropriate Food that is Available, Accessible, and Affordable
To be a community free from the effects of poverty, programs and incentives need to be in place to make sure that people have access to healthy, culturally appropriate food. People who live in poverty often don’t get enough healthy food to eat, which can lead to various problems with physical and mental health. This is especially true for children who live in low income families. In addition to strengthening existing programs, issues should be addressed such as increasing the purchase and use of local foods and improving the storage and transportation of food.
